Jaimie Warren
Exhibition: Don’t You Feel Better
Dates: 11.20.2008 – 01.10.2009
Opening: 11.20.2008

Higher Pictures presents the first solo exhibition of the artist Jaimie Warren. (Imagine the love child of Martin Parr and Cindy Sherman.) Warren’s theatrical and humorous self-portraits mine her naturally bizarre life. Living and working in Kansas City, Missouri, her photographs ride the boundaries between snapshot happenstance, the seemingly set-up and deadpan portraiture.

Opening night, the artist and her musical ensemble Y-NOT will perform on the deck of the gallery overlooking Madison Avenue. In celebratory spirit, similar to that of the artist, Warren’s pieces will be offered at $100 each exclusively during the run of the exhibition.

Jaimie Warren has recently been included in exhibitions at Smith-Stewart, New York and Max Wigram, London. Her photography has been seen in Neon (Munich), H (Barcelona), Paper (New York), Kasino A4 (Finland), NYCKFull.net (Sweden), Flyer (New York), Knit-Knit (New York), Punk Planet (Chicago), ANP Quarterly (Los Angeles), and Vice Magazine (New York). Currently she is in a series of pre-public access shows entitled “Whoop Dee Doo,” a zany Kansas City talent show hosting acts from drag theatre troupes to African drum-lines to professional stunt dogs (and of course, lots of dancing.)

Book signing and concert by the artist opening night.
