Rochelle Feinstein

Modern Painters

3/1/2013

Two concurrent New York shows exemplify the development of Feinstein’s consideration of the relationship between painting and photography. The earlier pieces here are paintings created from photographs of landscapes and locations like the beach, city views, and an old diner or prints on which Feinstein paints speech bubbles with such words as Now and Wrong. These works are interesting mainly as a step on the way to true inventiveness, shown further downtown at On Stellar Rays, where Feinstein is exhibiting a retrospective of paintings via a slide projector.
